Job Description:

Our client’s Enterprise Content Management (ECM) Consulting Practice serves many of the world's largest and most prestigious companies across most major industry verticals. They offer solutions to help clients address a wide range of issues affecting business growth for both established as well as early stage and emerging companies. Our client’s Enterprise Content Management area designs, develops, and implements systems and processes to capture, integrate and distribute information in an enterprise. Their specific service offerings within the Enterprise Content Management area include:

  • Enterprise Content Management
  • Enterprise Portals

Our client’s technology consultants, working with other IT organizations, can help their clients to use technology integration to solve business challenges. Our client’s technology specialists, most with extensive experience in systems integration and development, are committed to delivering efficient, technology-based solutions to their clients. They assess their client's current technology needs and assist with systems design and implementation to improve both enterprise-wide integration and profitability. Through their long-term partnerships with many of the world's leading technology companies they can offer extremely cost effective implementation to their clients.

The objective of this role is to deliver IT value that helps drive business results by understanding both the business of technology and how technology works within the business.

For each level described below there are two career tracks:

The first is the SME (Subject Matter Expert) path. The SME track is for those who are looking for a career path which emphasizes technical and/or industry expertise over the more traditional business development oriented career path.

The second is the more traditional business development oriented career track which emphasizes the generation of revenue and requires that the candidate possesses, maintains, and builds a solid base of contacts from which to drive new business - even if it requires "cold calling.” This path is for those who are interested in and capable of acting as a true “Rainmaker.”

Additional opportunities exist for those candidates who possess strong experience in specific industry verticals in addition to meeting the cross-industry requirements stated below.

*Candidates interested in pursuing opportunities at levels up to and including Direct Entry Partner will be considered on a case-by-case basis based upon the merits of their accomplishments and qualifications for the role.

A Senior Manager in the Enterprise Content Management practice is expected to have the following overall IT and consulting expertise:

  • Development of statements of work and/or client proposals
  • Broad system level expertise across multiple computing platforms and technologies with the ability to influence direction around enterprise content management at the Enterprise Level
  • Organize knowledge transfer to clients
  • Develop and manage vendor relationships
  • Lead workshops for client education
  • Identify opportunities to add value to the client’s organization by effective use of enterprise content management
  • Build relationships with CXOs and key stakeholders responsible for enterprise content management in client’s organization

A Manager in the Enterprise Content Management practice is expected to have the following overall IT and consulting expertise:

  • Development of statements of work and/or client proposals
  • Identify business opportunities to increase usability and profitability of information architecture
  • Experience with program leadership, governance and change enablement
  • Develop and manage vendor relationships
  • Lead workshops for client education
  • Manage resources and budget on client projects

A Senior Consultant in the Enterprise Content Management practice is expected to have the following overall IT and consulting expertise:

  • Development of statements of work and/or client proposals
  • Defining, developing, and documenting business and systems requirements.
  • Contribute to a strong client relationship through interactions with client personnel
  • Understand the business context of the engagement

Management/Strategy Capabilities

Sr Manager

  • Ability to scope out the effort and cost for an enterprise content management solution
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Portal/ECM capabilities such as Security, Search, Personalization, Internationalization, Categorization, Taxonomy, Messaging, Collaboration, and Publishing
  • Ability to define how an enterprise content management system will align with the organization’s business and strategic objectives
  • Ability to architect a portal and ECM solution and provide optimization recommendations to portal and content managers
  • Ability to recommend platform selection and application integration options to clients
  • Identify critical portal application integration issues and recommend solutions
  • Provide technical recommendations for performance issues including: application integration optimization, platform hardware analysis, architecture optimization techniques, and performance troubleshooting techniques
  • Create scalable technology solutions which can evolve with minimal impact on infrastructure and operations
  • Lead or validate the proposed business process model and identify strategy for business readiness
  • Plan governance model execution and train governance board to be self-sustaining
  • Ability to manage multiple teams on an enterprise content management engagement

Manager

  • Strong knowledge of fundamental Portal and ECM navigation and usability techniques
  • Strong knowledge of Portal and ECM architectures, functional components, interfaces, and processes
  • Strong knowledge of Portlet/application integration approaches
  • Strong knowledge of security methodologies including Single Sign On integration
  • Strong knowledge of Portal and ECM performance issues, optimization, as well as performance troubleshooting and tuning techniques
  • Extensive experience with Information Architecture, Knowledge Management, and Metadata
  • Create processes for defining and documenting data standards and meta models
  • Build an integrated metadata environment consisting of both operational and business metadata and ensure the quality and integrity of the data
  • Identify opportunities to optimize performance of existing data structures
  • Provide expertise in data discovery and profiling

Technical Skills

Sr Manager

  • Experience with one or more Security tools: IBM/Tivoli Access Manager or Netegrity SiteMinder
  • Experience with one or more Search tools: Google, Verity, Autonomy, FAST
  • Experience with one or more Testing tools: Mercury Interactive suite is preferred
  • Proficient in one or more of major metadata tools and their administration
  • Provide oversight support to the design, development and QA teams

  • Experience with a number of major Portal platforms: SAP Portal/Netweaver, Plumtree, Vignette, SharePoint, BEA Portal, Websphere Portal
  • Experience with linking email and calendaring systems into Portal environments
  • Experience with a number of the following ECM platforms: Documentum, FileNet, Hummingbird, Open Text, iManage, eiStream, Captiva, Vignette
  • Extensive experience with creating portlets and other custom coding artifacts using one or more of the following languages: C, C++, JAVA, TCL, Perl, HTML, XML
  • Experience with any of the following tools: Portal Developer Kit, iViews, eventing, Single Sign On, system connections, SAP GUIs (ITS, Java, Win), SAP WebDynpro, IBM/Tivoli Access Manager, Netegrity SiteMinder, LoadRunner and other Mercury Interactive tools
  • Strong knowledge of Database (Oracle / MS SQL Server), Operating Systems (Windows 2000 / 2003, Unix, Linux), Java Environment Setup, Portal Install, ODBC/JDBC, SAP Basis Installation

Education:

Sr Manager - Bachelor's Degree; an advanced degree or MBA is preferred; 10-14 years of relevant work experience

Manager - Bachelor's Degree; an advanced degree or MBA is preferred; 6-10 years of relevant work experience

Sr Conslt - Bachelor's Degree; an advanced degree or MBA is preferred; as well as 4-6 years of relevant work experience

A minimum of a Bachelors degree is REQUIRED. Masters degree, MBA, or higher is highly desirable.
