Description:
The Principal Consultant tackles the most demanding assignments, from departmental data mining engagements to enterprise-wide e-business solutions implemented by cross-functional teams. They will be considered a subject matter expert.
They will also be responsible for contributing to the career development of production and education consulting staff, for ensuring quality services delivery in all consulting engagements, and for the development of new services and license business opportunities within all regions and across all industries.
This position supports the selling and delivering of services and education. There is a separate sales force for product and licenses.
Job Duties (include but are not limited to):
The Principal consultant’s role is to be the technical ‘expert’ that internal personnel and external customers rely on for the most difficult technical challenges. The Principal consultant should be able to discuss all aspects of Business Intelligence & Data Warehousing technology, OLAP in particular, while also having the implementation experience to design highly functional and scalable solutions for customers.
- Acts as a technical ‘mentor’ for other employees within the organization
- Reviews the work of less senior employees
- Assists Services management determine on which products & technologies internal staff should be trained
- Serve as the ‘specialists’ for our Technical Advisory Services customers and provide most of the white papers and other proprietary contents of our Technical Advisory Services program

Qualifications:
- High level of technical proficiency in all aspects of OLAP and related technologies
- Familiarity with various OLAP products, ETL tools, ‘Cubes’, RDBMS such as SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 and TeraData, web devlp, and C/S platforms
- Understanding of core Business Intelligence (BI)/data warehousing technology: RDBMS such as SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 and Teradata, Web, Client/ Server, and OLAP
- Business Intelligence development experience and programming experience (SQL, Visual Basic, C, C++); Web/Internet experience (JAVA, HTML, ASP, XML, XSL, JavaScript)
- Proven ability to learn about new technologies and apply that knowledge to new challenges
- Ability to document technical knowledge effectively into white papers and technical notes
- Technical education (BS, MS) preferred. 5-10 years of consulting and consulting management experience at the Region / District level
- 3-5 years prior experience in systems integration consulting or software / hardware vendor services
- Ability to excel in a team environment
- Demonstrated creative problem solving ability
- Effective oral, presentation, and written communication skills
